What is on offer?

There are three different SEN Support Session options available. Settings can take up one or more of the options and subscription is for the year (April 2021 – March 2022).

A pro-rata fee will be calculated for any setting wanting to take up the offer during the year and there are additional opportunities to take up on an ad-hoc basis (please enquire).

All sessions are delivered by experienced and qualified SEN specialists (associates working with Strive).

Six SEN Training Sessions across a year

See schedule for dates below or download at the resource centre. Lasting 2 – 3 hours, covering a range of key topics requested by attendees from the pilot (which ran last year).

Focus in the year ahead is likely to cover some of the following:

  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Behaviour
  • Communication (Makaton Training, support around PECS, visual timetables etc)
  • Support and advice completing required forms and applications
  • Play
  • Creating Behaviour Plans
  • Introductions to and general advice around specific conditions including Sensory Processing, ADHD, and ASD
  • Supporting and working with parents
  • Portage approaches

Zoom will be used initially but feedback suggests face-to-face would be preferable.

This is likely to be instigated ‘as and when’ possible.

Six Peer Support and Problem-Solving Sessions across a year

See schedule for dates below or download at the resource centre. To be held virtually on Zoom as feedback suggests the nature of these sessions make it most efficient.

Each session lasts 2 hours, and attendees are asked to identify key topics beforehand.

Sessions are led and facilitated by an experienced professional to ensure that all the requested topics are covered, and solutions are proposed, and that all attendees can contribute.

Maximum number of individuals in a group will be monitored and where possible these will be grouped to your preference (organisation, geography, size or random).

Six Setting Support Sessions across a year

To be held virtually on Zoom. Feedback suggests the nature of these sessions make it the most efficient method. Dates will be arranged once booking received.

Each session lasts an hour and covers advice and support regarding individual children and the challenges faced, as well as advice around any wider topics where support is required.

Sessions can be attended by multiple staff from the same setting so if the manager or someone interested in the role of SENCo would like to attend as well, that would be possible.

Additional information

If you are interested in any of these sessions, either more regularly, or on an ‘as and when needed’ basis, or if you need flexible SEN support please enquire. We are happy to consider.

The Peer Support Sessions and individual Setting Support Sessions can be considered (if preferable) on a face-to-face basis as opposed to Zoom as and when it is safe and appropriate to do so, but there would need to be a fee increase to reflect transport costs and time. Please enquire.

Please be aware that all booking details, including contact details or any specific queries about content of the training will be passed to the associate to enable Zoom links to be sent out for the training being taken up. See company privacy statement for more information.
