Who are these sessions for?

Targeted at Team Leaders/Seniors and those new to a management role or wanting to further develop their skills.

When?

This is a pilot and will commence in April running once a month for an hour via Zoom as follows;

Wednesday 21 April 10am – 11am

Wednesday 19 May 10am – 11am

Wednesday 16 June 10am – 11am

Wednesday 14 July 10am – 11am

There will be an option to develop an ongoing network beyond July.

The benefits

In the absence of face-to-face training never has online training and remote learning been so invaluable.

However, what these methods often miss out on is the building of relationships and being able to interact with others in similar roles.

The expectation is that the Peer Support sessions will enable this: coming together via Zoom and building a network of aspiring leaders and managers that you can relate to.

How the sessions will work and what is on offer

  • A ‘getting to know’ session’ with other professionals from different settings.
  • A focus on finding solutions to problems; sharing ideas and views.
  • Reminders of the key skills required to be an effective leader and manager.
  • Discussions on key topics and matters of interest and those that create challenge.
  • Exercises and tools to support you in developing your skills.
  • Sharing of short, relevant reads and blogs to support your ongoing development.
  • Monthly one-hour sessions via Zoom.

Key topics – to include the following depending on the needs of the group

  • Dealing with staff conflict, negotiation, and conciliation skills.
  • Developing ‘soft skills’ – these are personal attributes that enable you to interact more effectively & harmoniously with other people.
  • Creating a positive mindset.
  • Developing good work habits
  • Managing time in a busy work environment.
  • Interventions to support the needs of a range of staff members with different skills.
  • Styles of Leadership & Management, when and how to use.
  • Coaching skills using the GROW Model.
  • Coaching and Mentoring – what is the difference, when and how to use.
  • Setting SMART goals for self, and a team.
  • Brainstorming strategies to include mind mapping, reverse thinking, and gap filling;
  • Applying ‘Situational Leadership’ strategies.
  • Using SWOT (Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis;

There will be an emphasis on building strong and trusting relationships within the group and helping individuals to build on the skills they already have whilst working creatively to find new ways of working for the benefit of their setting.

Aims and objectives

To build skills in delegation, team building, problem solving, conflict resolution and assertiveness. To address personal weaknesses and build on existing strengths. To build confidence and self-awareness to help create an effective and harmonious workforce.

Fees

£60 covering 4 months.

There will be an opportunity for sessions to continue when the pilot is reviewed.
